LR4 After the Sale

Just purchased a V1 Engineering LR4??  Congratulations!!!!

Thinking about buying one and want to know what else you might need to go with it??  That's great too!!!

You've made it to the right place!

Things you will need after buying a V1 Engineering LR4...

Your Router...  This is something you had to choose before placing your order.  This way we can print and include the correct tool mount and dust shoe for your router.  Changed your mind after buying??  That's ok too!  Just send us a quick email with your order number to let us know which one you have decided to change to!

Your Table...  Don't overthink this.  These machines can run on a sheet (or a few sheets depending on the size machine you order) of MDF sitting on the floor.  Many have used this method to use the LR4 to cut out parts for its own table!  You can also run it on plywood on saw horses!  The choices are endless and dont need to be elaborate or fancy!  Any questions you have please email us, or even better head over to the V1 Engineering Forum and post your questions there.

Dust Collection Hose...  The dust shoe is designed to be used with 2.5" dust collections hose.  Personally I use this one.  2.5" x 20' Dust Collection Hose.  If you are wanting to use something different please email us and let us know so we can see what adaptors you might need to make it work.  The hose I use can also be easily adapted to a shop vac or to a larger 4" dust collection system like this. 2.5" to 4" Adaptor.  I also suggest some 12" Zip Ties to attach the hose to the core on the LR4, and you attach the wires coming from the core to the hose so the hose acts as a cable chain for the core wires, it works very well!

Bits...  Your LR4 doesn't come with any bits, so you will need to get those.  Depending on what you are wanting to cut there are a wide range and variety of bits available.  Here are several links to ones I use and have had good luck with.

Collet adaptors...  The ability to use 1/8" bits is a great thing in a LR4.  It makes the bits a lot cheaper and opens the variety up a lot!  V1 Engineering sells the 1/8" collet adaptors for the Makita and the Dewalt.  If you have the Kobalt router it comes with 1/4" and 1/8" collets.

Makita 1/8" Collet

Dewalt 1/8" Collet

Squaring your LR4...  It is vital that you square the LR4 after installing on your table to get precise and accurate cuts.  If the CNC isnt square then your parts wont be either.  This is super simple to do with a V-bit and some Tape on your table.  Measuring it with a tape measure wont get you very accurate results.  The best method I have found is to use a cloth Metric tape measure laid flat on the table.  This is the one I use... https://amzn.to/3ULc2Qb or https://amzn.to/48GQv0F
